7.2.4 Dolby Atmos dedicated cinema
Partner: bespoke home cinemas
Location: Uk
This superb 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos cinema was designed in house, entirely by the team at Bespoke Home Cinemas. The brief was to convert a disused basement area into a dedicated home cinema. The client wanted to be taken away to another world, so the room had to be a ‘real cinema’ but with a fun design for the whole family, without feeling cheesy.
The cinema project was nicknamed 'Stargate' (which is now what the client calls the room) due to the custom fibre optic lighting. Originally designed to make a feature out of a boxed in RSJ and to conceal the surround speakers, the Bespoke team created two bands of stars across the room, all custom designed for the project. The client also requested segregating off part of the room to become a plant room with consumer units, a boiler, water tanks & air conditioning.
An Artcoustic Sub3 Subwoofer was located in the plant room and we ported through the baffle wall as well as ducting from AC. Soundproofing was really important as a kitchen above and vibrations from main road could be heard from the basement. The room was a floating MF construction with resilient bar isolation and rubber isolation hangers for the ceiling. The entire room was dual dB boarded with Green Glue.
